Two-day seminar for Sports Journalists

Accra, Oct. 27, GNA - The Local Organising Committee (LOC) of Ghana CAN 2008 will in conjunction of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) hold a two day seminar for accredited sports journalists. The seminar, which is to climax the CAF inspection's visit to the country, is scheduled for 18-19 November at the Coconut Grove Hotel, Elmina, Central Region. A statement issued from the secretariat of the LOC said, the seminar will center on functions and operations of the media in connection with the organization and hosting of the 26th MTN Africa Cup of Nations scheduled for January 20 and February 10, 2008.

It added that recognized media houses from both the print and electronic are required to submit the particulars of two (2) representatives each to enable the secretariat complete the necessary arrangements ahead of time.

The Statement said the seminar will also provide the participants the opportunity to discuss conditions that may influence their operations for the better.

This is to be within the well laid CAF/LOC organization strategy to ensure that media movement and functions are enhanced rather than hamper the smooth plans towards the success of the tournament.

It added that the two day conference will attempt at finding solutions to anticipated problems during the tournament and agree on matters of mutual satisfaction to the LOC and the media by way of accreditation to offer media personnel access to teams, players and other officials as well as the right to interviews and conferences with regards to accreditation and its limitations clearly spelt out. The accredited journalists are expected to depart Accra for Elmina on Saturday at 3:30pm.
