Two African Title Bouts in Accra

The call on individuals and organisations to assist in the development of sports seemed to have received positive response as individuals are now showing interest in sports development.

Knights Promotions, London-based boxing Promoters, under the leadership of Mr. Vince Macbean will stage their maiden two African title bouts in the cruiser and super-feather weight divisions in the country next month as their contributions towards sports development.

Speaking to the GNA Sports, Mr Joseph Agbeko, country representative of Knights Promotions, said the championship which has been slated for February 8 would see Aloyi Moyoyo who is now based in London and being managed by Mr MacBean fighting with an opponent to be named later from either Nigeria or the Cote d'Ivoire in the cruiser weight division.

Mr Agbeko said Robertson Kutsokey also London-based and managed by Mr MacBean would vie for the super-welter weight title which has been vacant for sometime now with Ousmanu Adama.

Other supporting bouts would be a national championship title in the flyweight division between Galley Cudjoe and Asamoah Wilson while Moabi Armstrong and Ayittey Mettle would fight for honours in the feather-weight division.

Mr Agbeko said the Knights Promotions were staging these bouts to whip up enthusiasm in boxing and give a new approach to boxing adding that boxers who would be under the management of Knight Promotions would have the chance to school and train at the same time in their academy in London.
