Toure weeps for Charles Taylor

Striker Ahmed Toure insists Charles Taylor is the best player ever produced in Ghana.

According to the Ivorian, the talent and contribution Taylor made during the peak of his career, as well as the controversy surrounding his transfer can never be compared to any other.

“I was in Ghana and played with Taylor and know what I am talking about. Taylor is a player and what he did with Hearts and Kotoko alone is enough testimony.

“Here is a player who can carry the whole team on his shoulders and on any difficult day within seconds change the game and win it for you”. Toure said this after listening to Charles Taylor recount his problems in an interview on Hot FM.

Taylor had earlier told the Accra based radio station how things are now difficult and how his team Berekum Chelsea neglected him after he got injured. The player, almost in tears said he still got some soccer in him but lamented how players are easily disposed of by clubs in the Ghana.

Toure, himself a great talent and now seeking to re-launch his career called the sportscrusader offices seeking to get in touch with Taylor, adding “this guy’s talent should not be killed like that.

According to him, he should be helped back on his feet and either made to go on a coaching course or do something related to football.

He said “If people like Taylor will suffer in the end, what about the others who could not make such names for themselves?”

Taylor became a household name in Ghana after joining Hearts from Olympics, leading the Phobians to the 2000 Champions league title.

He controversially switched camp to Kotoko and led the Porcupine Warriors to break the league dominance by winning the 2003 league title under Sylvester Asare Owusu.
