Top guns in African football seeded in Pot 1 of 2019 AFCON Group draw

The Black Stars of Ghana are one of the teams seeded in Pot 1 for the impending draw for the 2019 AFCON Groups.

Pot 1 which is topmost comprises of four time winners Ghana, six time winners and host nation Egypt, Cote D’Ivoire who have won the competitions twice, defending champions Cameroon who also have won four trophies as well as Senegal, and Tunisia.

The Pot 1 has two North African teams namely Algeria and Morocco with the West African trio of Mali, Guinea and Nigeria as well as DR. Congo from Central Africa completing the list.

Uganda, South Africa, Guinea Bissau, Burundi, Zimbabwe and Angola make up Pot 4 with Mauritania, Namibia, Benin, Kenya, Madagascar and Tanzania in Pot 4. The final draw for the Group pairings will be held in Cairo, Egypt in the coming days.

The 2019 AFCON Tournament will begin on June 21 and end on July 19.
