West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has all but given up on signing Ghana international Jeffrey Schlupp from Leicester City after negotiations hit a snag.

The 23-year-old was desperate to leave the King Power for regular football but according to reports in the United Kingdom Leicester have refused to sanction the move.

West Brom boss Tony Pulis says he has all but given up on signing the Ghanaian multi-purpose player.

“I think that’s dead,” he said, when asked about Schlupp. “Obviously we made an offer and the understanding was that the lad wanted to play first-team football.

“I think he would have been keen to come to us but they are the team that hold the player and they have to decide whether they want to let him go or not.

“We can’t do anything about that. If they want to keep him at Leicester so be it. He’s under contract.”

When Pulis was asked if there was any chance the move could be re-kindled before the end of the window, he said: “It’s pretty clear now that they don’t want to do any business.

“That’s the way it goes. I’ve been involved in a lot of transfers and I have been in situations where they deal has fallen through at the last minute for no reason at all, or clubs have just pulled the player back because someone has got injured or a manager has had a change of mind.
