Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey is mourning the death of his father, Jacob Teye Partey, who passed away on Wednesday, September 30, 2026.

The passing of Jacob Teye Partey has plunged the Partey family into mourning, with the news emerging as the former Arsenal midfielder deals with a difficult personal moment.

Jacob was more than just Thomas Partey’s father, having played an important role in the midfielder’s journey into professional football.

Reports indicate that he supported his son’s early ambitions and made significant sacrifices to help him pursue his football dream. Jacob was also involved in football in their hometown of Odumase Krobo, where Thomas began playing the sport as a young boy.

Thomas eventually moved to Spain as a teenager, joining Atlético Madrid’s youth setup in 2011 before developing into a top-level midfielder.

He later played for Mallorca, Almería and Atlético Madrid before joining Arsenal and subsequently moving to Saudi Arabian side Al Shabab.

He has also established himself as one of Ghana’s most prominent players and an important figure in the Black Stars.

Thomas Partey has yet to publicly comment on his father’s passing as the family mourns privately.

The cause of Jacob Teye Partey’s death has not been disclosed, while funeral and burial arrangements are yet to be announced.
