Thomas Partey denies fresh rape charges

Ghana midfielder Thomas Partey returned to court on Monday, April 13, 2026, to face fresh legal trouble, firmly denying two new counts of rape brought against him.

Standing before Southwark Crown Court in London, the 32-year-old entered not guilty pleas to the latest charges, which are linked to a fourth complainant and stem from an alleged incident in December 2020.

His lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, maintained his innocence, stating:

“Thomas Partey continues to deny all charges against him. He has cooperated with the police throughout. Given there are ongoing legal proceedings, there will be no further comment.”

These new allegations add to an already serious case. Partey had previously denied five counts of rape involving two women, along with a separate sexual assault charge relating to a third complainant, with those alleged incidents said to have occurred between 2021 and 2022.

The accusations date back to his time at Arsenal FC, which signed him from Atlético Madrid in a €50 million deal in 2020. Since leaving the Premier League side last summer, he has continued his career at Villarreal CF.

Partey has been granted bail ahead of a trial scheduled for November 2026, although there are indications it could be delayed.

Meanwhile, he remains active on the pitch, featuring regularly for Villarreal, and is still expected to be part of Ghana’s plans for the 2026 World Cup.
