They should have helped me prepare – Jabir

Black Meteors coach, Malik Jabir is livid after his team’s quest of defending their All African Games trophy was reduced to only a dream following a 0-2 defeat to Nigeria in their second group match on Wednesday.

Jabir’s side have a point from two matches and are on the brink of exiting the competition the Black Meteors won with Coach Kwesi Appiah in Maputo in 2011, with the experienced coach bearing his frustration after the match.

“We have been disappointed by Ghanaians. They should have helped me to prepare the team for the tournament. All our opponents had good preparation but we had nothing close to that and that is the results we see.”

The coach who claimed he did not want to be drawn into a blame game retorted “Who brought me here” when asked who should have assisted him to prepare the team for the continent’s biggest sports gathering.

The Meteors draw goalless with Senegal in the opening match and can only advance to the next stage of the competition should Nigeria defeat Senegal by three unanswered goals in the group’s final meeting at the weekend.

The best two teams in each group will advance to the semi-finals of the competition.
