Theodore Viwotor gets world amputee football post

The Administrative Secretary of the Ghana Amputee Football Association, Theodore Mawuli Kwaku Viwotor, has been appointed by the World Amputee Football Federation (WAFF) as the Deputy Media Relations Officer.

In a letter dated March 6, 2014, the President of WAFF, Mr. Richard Hofmann, said, “It is my pleasure to inform you that WAFF 2nd Vice President Masayuki Sugino, and I have agreed and hereby appoint you as Deputy Media Relations Officer for the World Amputee Football Federation.”

Mr. Hofmann took into consideration Theodore Viwotor’s background, skills and experience which span about a decade.

Theodore Viwotor has been given responsibilities over the entire African Continent to contribute to giving Amputee Football more visibility and to attract more support for the disability sport.

Currently the News Editor of The Catalyst Newspaper and formerly of The Daily Democrat, Theodore Viwotor has attended many Amputee Football events including the last two world cups in Argentina in 2010 and Russia in 2012. He also attended a mini Amputee Football tournament in the United Kingdom (UK) involving England, Poland, Germany and Ireland.

He is known to have brokered the deal that saw three Ghanaian amputee football players travelling to Turkey to play Amputee Football as professionals, the first of its kind in the annals of the sport. Ghana now has five (5) amputee football players in Turkey, namely, Richard Arthur Opentil, Francis Antwi Darkwah, Attah Yeboah, Richard Ekwam and Collins Gyamfi.

He was instrumental in the organization of the 3rd Cup of African Nations for Amputee Football (CANAF 2011) in Accra Ghana in 2011 and brought his commentary experience to bear on the 4th CANAF in Kenya, where formed part of Ghana’s delegation to the tournament.

With his bilingual background (French and English), he is expected to build a rapport between the various blocs on the continent and to open the Federation up to various news agencies through the world body.
