Head coach of the National U23 team, Ibrahim Tanko has heaped praises on his players after beating Algeria by a lone goal to qualify for the African under 23 Championship in Egypt.
Ghana needed to win the game at all cost after drawing the first leg in Accra, captain of the side Yaw Yeboah second-half strike secured the important win for Ghana in Setif on Tuesday night.
Speaking after his side win against the Fennec Foxes, Ibrahim Tanko stated his boys showed a lot of character during the game, he also showered special praised for the goalscorer Yaw Yeboah.
“You could see that, the will was there, he took the ball from the middle through to the goal even though he had a chance to fall down for a penalty, but he didn’t.
“It’s not only about Yaw Yeboah, but we have to commend the rest of the guys, after the first game all of them were down and we had to psych and talk to them from Ghana to Algeria.
“I think today’s game the guys showed character and it’s only prudent for us to commend the players for that performance” He added.
The African Under 23 Championship will come off in November at Egypt with eight nations battling for the ultimate.
