Black Starlets Management Committee member Abdul Salam Yakubu insists that the national U-23 team will continue to fail if they are not afforded a portion of the treatment given the Black Stars.

Yakubu, who is also the president for New Edubiase United holds that if things are not done properly, it will take the Black Meteors the next 50 years to get to the Olympic Games.

As a member of the Black Meteors management Committe that failed to book a ticket to this year's Olympic Games in Rio, Brazil, Abdul Salam reckons that the negligence of the authorities towards the Black Meteors has been their bane and if care is not taken, qualifying to the Olympic games again will only be a mirage.

"There are so many challenges we faced as Black Meteors Management Committee members. The support the authorities give to the Meteors team is too minimal but if a portion of the attention given to the Black stars is given to the Black Meteors, I think they can make it to the next Olympic Games. However, if this is not done, then Ghana shouldn't dream of qualifying for the Olympic Games in the next 50 years." Abdul Salam Yakubu said on Happy FM's Anopa Bosuo Sports.

He labelled one problem of the National Olympic team as their inability to get all players they invite for assignments and the drudgery they go through when travelling.

"Whenever players are invited for Meteors games, we are unable to get most of the foreign components. Moreover, our travelling arrangements are so tedious. A typical example was when we were supposed to play Congo in Brazzaville, we had to go through Togo and other countries before, and the next day was the match day.Whereas, they came here with a private jet.Because if the Black Stars are to play a match and the are provided with a chartered flight, why can't the same be done for the Meteors?" he quizzed.

The Black Meteors last competed in the Olympic games in Athens 12 years ago when they exited the tournament in the first round.
