Thaddeus Caught in Dzamefe's Web

Legal counsel for the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Thaddeus Sory's antics to deny the Commission of Inquiry into the Brazil 2014 World Cup of getting the Black Stars players to appear before it was quashed by Justice Senyo Dzamefe on Monday.
The Commission had served the Black Star players through the Ghana Football Association to make appearance a day after their AFCON 2015 second leg qualifying match against the Syli National of Guinea but the GFA surprised the Commission on Thursday with a letter which sort to distance themselves from the players.
"As you may know we served the players to make appearance today but this morning we received a letter from the GFA saying that the players cannot come and I'm going to read the letter to you," Justice Dzamefe said.
There was a serious chop logic between Thaddeus Sory and Justice Dzamefe after the lead commissioner had read the letter to the hearing of the house.
"Mr. Sory as for this one you goofed," Justice Dzamefe said.
"Well my lord if you say so but I think it falls within their right," Sory retorted.
"Yes you goofed. The reason why you goofed is that we wanted to at least give the players the opportunity to tell us what happened in Brazil and apologize to the nation so that the nation would forgive them so if you are telling me that the FA could not physically produce them ...."
"You see someone could even suggest that it is a plan thing but I see it as an insult to us and the nation because we decided to channel our invitation to them through the FA as a sign of respect to the FA," the lead commissioner noted.
"Read paragraph four of your letter to the commission," Justice Dzamefe asked.
"My lord before I read paragraph four, respectfully I would like to read paragraph three first," Thaddeus said.
"Mr. Thaddeus I asked you to read paragraph four and you are telling me that you are going to read paragraph three?," Justice Dzamefe queried.
"My lord paragraph four follows three," Thaddeus answered.
”No no no! as the commissioner of this commission I instruct you to read paragraph four," Justice Dzamefe insisted.
"My lord paragraph four says, we have however advised our client that he has no authority whatsoever in his capacity as the president of the Ghana Football Association to physically produce each of the players concerned before the commission without interfering with their personal rights for two main reasons," Thaddeus read.
"You see," Justice Dzamefe arrested his case angrily.

Dear Sir,

RE : HEARING NOTICE TO BLACK STARS PLAYERS.
1.0 We write as solicitors for and on behalf of the President of the Ghana Football Association (hereinafter simply called "our client") of Accra and upon whose instructions we write you this letter.
2.0 Your letter numbered WCC/HN/63/14 and dated the 10th day October, 2014 on the above intituled subject was referred to us by our client with instructions to respond to same and we hereby do.
3.0 Upon perusal of your letter to which we hereby respond, we have advised our client to bring to the attention of the players concerned, the notice of hearing sent directly to our client, which advice, as per our client's information to us was duly carried out.
4.0 We have however advised our client that he has no authority whatsoever in his capacity as the president of the Ghana Football Association to physically produce each of the players concerned before the commission without interfering with their personal rights for two main reasons.
5.0 First, all the players the subject matter of the Commission's letter to which we now respond have attained the age of majority and are of full capacity for which reason they are not subject to our client's direct control in their individual and personal capacities save for the limited purposes for which the Ghana Football Association has procured their consent and that of their clubs to travel to Ghana from their respective club bases.
6.0 Second, the Ghana Football Association's agreement with each of the players concerned and their respective clubs only permits the Association to hold unto them until after the competitive match of the Black Stars on Wednesday the 15th day of October 2014 after which, each of the players is no longer under the Association's control and is required to return to their respective clubs.
7.0 In this regard we note that the players, as per the Commission's letter to which we now respond, are required to appear before the Commission on Thursday the 16th day of October 2014.
8.0 We trust that we have sufficiently explained to the Commission our client's effort to comply with the Commission's request within his very limited capacity and to the extent to which it is legally permissible by our client so to do.
