Tetteh ready for Chan qualifiers

Home-based Ghana winger Samuel Tetteh has reiterated his pride at wearing the national jersey ahead of the 2016 African Nations Championship qualifier against Cote D’Ivoire on Sunday.

The local Black Stars are set to face their West African neighbours at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Sunday to determine who joins 14 other nations, together with hosts Rwanda, for the biennial competition.

“Playing for my nation means a lot to me and it’s something wonderful that can happen to any player. It also boosts my career,” Tetteh told Goal .

“We’re really preparing well as you can see [and] the team is in a good shape. We have played some trial matches even though [they] are not all that competitive.

“But I think we’re doing well and are ready for Sunday’s game. I will say all Ghanaians should pray for us and they should expect nothing but a win. We will play our best to win it for them.

“We don’t know anything about them (Cote D’Ivoire) or now but I think we know how these French-speaking African countries play.”

Having made his senior Black Stars debut as a substitute in Ghana’s 3-2 win over Congo in September, the WAFA winger hints that his club future is still largely undecided.

“We will see what happens next in the future but for now, I am still a WAFA player,” Tetteh added.

“My agent is handling everything well, so I leave everything regarding my future to him.”

Tetteh was one of Ghana’s standout performers as the Black Satellites reached the Round of 16 at the 2015 Fifa Under-20 World Cup in New Zealand.
