Tema Youth not behind GPL injunction threats

Tema Youth President Winfred Osei Palmer claims his club is not behind the court injunction seeking to halt the start of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League season.

News broke on Thursday that Babia Alhassan, an arch supporter of the Tema-based club, claims he has placed an injunction of the start of the league on Saturdya - a claim that the federation insiders have rubbished.

Alhassan, who says he is an official of Tema-based Division One side Real Athletico, claims he is not satisfied with the ruling of the case involving Tema Youth and Dreams FC.

This move has been linked in many quarters at the doorstep of Tema Youth but its President Osei Palmer has revealed that he has nothing to do with the supposed injunction.

According to Palmer, Babia Alhassan holds no official position in the club has not sanctioned the filing of any injunction.

"I only know Babia Alhassan as a Hearts of Oak fan based here in Tema who supports all the Tema clubs in their activities," Palmer told Ghana's leading football news website www.ghanasoccernet.com.

"He holds no official position in Tema Youth and we have not sanctioned for the filing of any injunction," Palmer added.

Reports however suggests that Babia Alhassan filed for the injunction insisting that the decision to give Dreams FC the go-ahead to play in the league must be overturned.

Tema Youth sought to prevent the start of the league with an order at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) but the Switzerland-based body rejected the application saying the complainant cannot prevent the start of the league.
