The Head of the University of Cape Coast [UCC] Sports Section, Dr. Daniel Apaak, has announced the teams readiness for the upcoming GUSA Cross Country Competition at University of Mines and Technology (UMAT), Tarkwa slated this Saturday, 4th November, 2017.

Speaking to ATL FM in an Interview on the Thursday Morning Sports Show, Dr. Apaak, confirmed that Team UCC will leave Cape Coast, 11am on Thursday, 3rd November, 2017 to join the likes of UG, KNUST and UEW who have arrived at the venue.

He indicated that there has been few injuries in their camp, yet , the team is prepared to repeat the feat they made last year at UEW where Team UCC emerged first in the competition.

“Though we have some injury situation in camp that is not a scare to us. As champions of the last edition our formidable UCC team is going into this competition to defend the title”.

Speaking on the death of GUSA president, Professor Joseph Kwesi Oga, he expressed that his death is a big loss to the association and his absence will be felt.

Yes! Naturally when you lose a leader like this it's not easy to replace. You know he has been the sitting president of GUSA and at the time like this we are expecting everything to be under his directive. But, unfortunately, we have been hit with this sad news. Certainly, we can't say we won’t miss his absence, but, we will do well as an association for this competition despite our president’s departure", he lamented.

Dr. Apaak finally made an appeal to the University Community for support and prayers for the Team to ensure their success.

UCC is the defending champion for the the GUSA Cross Country Athletics held in 2016 and also the Mini-GUSA games held in January this year.

The GUSA Cross Competition will be held from the 3rd-5th of November, 2017 at University of Mines and Technology (UMAT),Tarkwa.
