Tamale Metro Chief Executive motivates athletes

Bimbilla, (NR) July 12, GNA - Mr. Mohammed Amin Adam, Tamale Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) has advised participants at the ongoing Northern Region Basic Inter-District Sports Festival at Bimbilla to compote themselves for the success of the event.

He said as athletes there was the need for them to be disciplined and behave maturely during and after the games to ensure that the region became the envy of all in the country.

Mr. Adam gave the advice at Bimbilla when he presented assorted drinks made up of canned Coca-Cola, Fanta, Sprite and some "Energy" drinks as a way of motivating the Metro team to put their best at the festival.

The Metro Chief Executive said the Assembly had plans to develop sporting structures as a means of unearthing hidden talents and advised students to participate and bring out their potential in sporting activities.

Mr Adam said they stood the chance of making themselves and the country proud when they put in extra effort to excel just as the Black Stars did at the just ended World Cup fiesta in Germany. He said the Assembly sponsored part of the cost of sporting materials and other training equipment meant for the festival while 50 per cent of the cost of stay of the athletes at the festival would be borne by the Assembly.

Mr Adam called on the athletes to use the games to preach peace with their colleagues and extend it to their communities to ensure that the region enjoy lasting peace and togetherness. 12 July 06
