Tain MP promotes sports development

Badu, (B/A) April 2, GNA - The Member of Parliament for Tain in the Brong Ahafo Region Mr. Joe Danquah has so far spent about GH 20,000 cedis to promote sporting activities among the youth in the constituency.

He has already provided sets of jerseys and footballs to the zonal teams of Debibi, Tainso, Banda and Seikwa.

Mr Danquah who was addressed the Chiefs and people of Badu, Tainso, Akore, Adamu and Asuafo at a gala competition organized for seven soccer teams at Badu, he said it was his aim to assist talented footballers and other sports' activists to develop their talents. He announced plans to organize a strong team to represent Tain District at the national level. The MP advised the youth to regard football as business and cautioned them against engaging in smoking, pre-marital sex and alcoholism, which he said could adversely affect their health. Mr. Danquah commended Messrs Boakye Amoako, George Donkor and Opoku David, the three zonal organizers of the competition for mobilizing the teams and ensuring incident-free competition in the area. The seven teams which participated in the competition were Badu East football club, Badu West football club, Asuaso Stars and Badu GNAT team.

The other participating teams were Tainso, Akore and Adamu football clubs with each presented with a football.

Badu East team emerged overall champions and received a set of jerseys, a football and a cash of GHC 200 whilst Asuafu Stars who placed second received a set of jerseys, a football and GHC 150 while Badu West team placed third and also gpt a set of jerseys, a football and GHC 100 cash. 2 April 08
