TV3 marks World Cup 30-day countdown

Accra, May 12, GNA - Accra-based television outfit, TV3 on Wednesday organized an event to mark the 30-day countdown to the South Africa 2010 World Cup.

TV3, a member of the Ghana World Cup Consortium, will telecast 56 live and eight delayed matches during the period of the biggest sporting spectacle.

The event dubbed "Siyaya" (We are getting there), served an opportunity for the television station to formally announce its coverage package for the first ever World Cup to be staged on the African continent, which will hold from June 11 to July 11, 2010 in South Africa.

Syed Ahmad Zaidi, Chief Executive Officer of TV3 announced that his outfit has lined up series of programmes for their audience, clients and partners to emphasize their support for the success of the Black Stars. He mentioned packaged news reports to be beamed directly from South Africa, behind the scenes documentary-style look on the preparations of the Black Stars and Diva's show among others to be aired to sustain the interest of the general public during the World Cup period.

Nii Nortey Dua, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports commended TV3 for initiating such laudable initiatives to raise the euphoria on the tournament.

He urged all Ghanaians to do something in their capacity to support the second successive participation of the Black Stars at the Mundial. Kwesi Nyantakyi, President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) also extolled the Management of TV3 on the World Cup coverage initiative which will largely aid the Black Stars ambition of annexing the ultimate. The highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of a banner with the inscription, "The time has come, let's join our hands" with some Black Stars players also featuring. 12 May 10
