TUC man donates to Great Olympics

Accra, July 18, GNA 96 Mr Abraham T.D. Okine, General Secretary of the Public Services Workers Union of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) on Tuesday donated a set of jerseys worth 12 million cedis to Accra Great Olympics at a brief ceremony at the Swiss Consulate at Osu. The designer blue and white jerseys, with blue hoses to match and two footballs were received on behalf the Club by Mr Amarkai Amartefio, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Mr Eric Afotey Odai, Chief Executive Officer and a member of the Board.

Also in attendance were Ambassador Richard Oblitei Solomon, Board Member, Mr J.K.E Edzie, Secretary to the Board and Mr David Fugar, Director/Shareholder.

Mr Okine said the donation was in fulfilment of a pledge he made earlier in the year after watching Olympics humble Tema Youth in a Division One Middle League match.

He said being an ardent supporter of Great Olympics, he was enthused by the great form of the Club, which ensured it returned to the premiership after just one season in the lower rungs.

The CEO Mr Afotey Odai lauded the gesture of Mr Okine and tasked other supporters of the club who have the means to emulate him. Mr Amarteifio said the Board appreciated the goodwill of Mr Okine and urged all followers of the Club to 93translate their support into concrete things at this crucial time in the history of the Club.=94 He said the Club needed any kind of material support to enable it to aspire to greater heights.

The Board Chairman promised that the jerseys would be used in a way that would be productive to the Club.
