TUC congratulates Satellites

Accra, Oct. 29, GNA - The Ghana Trades Union Congress has congratulated the national U-20 team, Black Satellites on their historic triumph at the recent FIFA U-20 World Cup in Egypt.

The Black Satellites beat their Brazilian counterparts 4-3 on penalties to realize the dreams of an African side to win the biennial competition since its inception in 1977.

A statement signed by Kofi Asamoah, Secretary General of TUC on behalf of the working class of Ghana copied to GNA Sports said the victory has a honour not only to Ghana but to Africa and all Africans in the Diaspora. "It is gratifying to observe that the Black Satellites achieved this honour in a most remarkable way; that the team played in the final against the tournament's hot favourites, Brazil, with ten men for most of the 120 minutes, that the team was directed by an ordinary local Ghanaian coach and still won the championship was indeed an amazing feat".

"We say ayekoo to our gallant heroes who in the celebration of the 100th birthday Anniversary of another heroic son, Dr Kwame Nkrumah and in the native land of his wife Fathia, have brought us this magnificent honour," he concluded.
