After several years of staying away from Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Mr. Owusu Asare Sylvester is set for a return to the club,Sportscrusader.com can reveal.
Sources close to the astute businessman have it that the Asantehene, Otumfour Osei Tutu II, has made earlier contacts with the gentleman calling for his comeback to serve the Asante Kingdom once again but the former CEO of the club is believed to have accepted the offer but only after the season ends.
The former Kumasi Asante Kotoko CEO was spotted at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium during the 24th league encounter with AshantiGold SC which confirmed earlier rumours that the owner and life patron of the club, Otumfour Osei Tutu II is considering making him the CEO of the club again after experiencing their worse season in a decade.
Sylvester Asare Owusu was the first chairman of the club who won the league for the club in 2003 after Obuasi Goldfields and Accra Hearts of Oak had dominated the league since 1993 and many believe that he is the right man to turn the fortunes of the club around.
The Porcupine Warriors, for the first time in a decade are battling relegation instead of challenging for the title and many of the fans believe that the Opoku Nti led management has done little to put the club at its rightful position.
It was, however, not surprising that the few fans that trooped to the stadium to watch the Kotoko/AshGold game followed Mr. Asare Owusu Sylvester amidst chants and shouts for his comeback with some calling him ‘saviour’.
With six matches to end the season, Asante Kotoko are 11th on the table with 32 points, 3 points separating them from the relegation zone.
