The Ghana superstar moved to the Swans early in the transfer window, and great things are expected

Swansea City fans are clearly excited by the signing of Andre Ayew, with the vast majority of respondents backing the forward to make the largest contribution of the team’s new signings in an online poll.

FansNetwork.co.uk asked Swansea City fans which of the club’s new additions they felt was set to make the biggest impact.

Ayew was polled alongside the club’s other new recruits; Portugual striker Eder, ex-AS Saint-Etienne wideman Franck Tabanou and goalkeeper Kristoffer Nordfeldt.

The Ghana midfielder overwhelmingly won the fan vote, picking up 69.6 percent of the total votes cast—just under three in four.

Tabanou—who, like Dede, starred in Ligue 1 before making the switch to South Wales—came second with 12.3 percent of the vote, while Eder came third with 11.8 percent.

Nordfeldt, who will compete with Lukasz Fabianski for a starting place, came fourth.

Ayew’s signing represents something of a coup for Garry Monk’s side.

Not only was the forward moving from Olympique de Marseille, one of Europe’s giants, he also arrived with his prime ahead of him and able to contribute the experience of playing in the Champions League, the World Cup and the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

Moreover, the Swans also reportedly saw off interest from some of the continent’s heavyweights such as Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, AS Roma and the Milan clubs to sign the Black Star on a free transfer as his Phoceens contract expired.

The onus is now on Ayew to repay the faith of both the fans and the club during the coming campaign.

Ayew managed 10 goals and three assists in 28 appearances for Marcelo Bielsa’s side in Ligue 1 last season—a similar contribution would surely please Swansea’s fans.
