Accra, Nov. 29, GNA - Real Tamale United (RTU) must have heaved a si= gh of relief after ending a losing spell in the Glo Premier League with a wi= n over visiting Kessben at Tamale.
A lone goal was all RTU required to breath a measure of hope in one of its most miserable campaigns in 32 years and increase their points to eig= ht, 18 points adrift of league leaders, Chelsea. The win could not lift the "Pride of the North" off the foot of the standings, but, at least, it does one thing - it breaths a sense of belie= f in the team that traditionally boast of resilience and talent nurturing. They can begin to dream again even as they are ready to travel to Kumasi as guest of King Faisal in the ensuing weekend. Life, however, could not have been any worse for Kumasi Asante Kotok= o who moved down to fourth from the bottom after relinquishing a 2-0 lead to lose 2-3 to league leaders Chelsea at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.
Kotoko are ahead of Mighty Jets only on a slim superior goal difference. After bagging a point in the match against B.A. Stars a week ago in Sunyani and a new coach in Bogdan Korak, expectations were high. But the "Porcupine Warriors" have gradually lost their hold in the league for which they have matched Hearts of Oak as the only heirs to the=
throne almost forever.
Without doubt, Kotoko will be looking forward to the end of the firs= t round sooner than any of the 15 other teams with two games to end the hal= f. When they hit the road to Cape Coast as guest of Ebusua Dwarfs, who are only three points richer, the obvious will be, the "Fabulous Boys" will gladly exchange positions with their hosts on the log. Mighty Jets' hopeful surge could just be about beginning after the t= eam staged a show of character to beat New Edubiase 2-1 in Accra. Jets appeared awfully ordinary and with the game firmly wrapped arou= nd the fingers of the visitors who took an eighth minute lead through Emmanu= el Baffour, the homers needed an extraordinary fight to grab all three point= s. Murkson Mohammed began the turn around and when Kofi Owusu sealed th= e deal to mark Jets' fourth victory in 13 appearances; it was fair to feel perhaps the league debutants are beginning to hit their stride on time to=
survive the Premiership.
Hearts moved to fifth on the log despite only managing a point off Heart of Lions in their one-all drawn game in the clash of the Hearts at Kpando. Liberty Professionals recorded the biggest win for the week with a 4= -0 thumping of B.A. Stars who are second from the bottom of the table. Ashgold were lone goal winners over defending champions, Aduana at t= he Len Clay Stadium while visiting Dwarfs picked a point off All Stars in Wa= .. At the Golden City Park in Berekum, Arsenal dropped two points in their g= ame with King Faisal.
