Superstitious Ghana FA members accused

Mallam Yusif Issah has told a court in Accra that members of the Ghana FA asked him for money to be used for 'juju' before a game with Sudan.

He said in court today that the three Ghanaian FA officials, Worlanyo Agrah, Yaw La-Danso and Emmanuel Owusu-Ansah, asked him to give them $US 2750 to pursue some spiritual powers, which could help the Black Stars win the match. Mallam Issah said he only gave out $US 688 to the FA officials, claiming that this aroused some feelings of resentment against him. He said the FA officials might have turned against him because he did not give them what they requested.

Mallam Issa, who has not been able to account for an amount of $US 46,000, he took to Sudan to be paid out as bonuses to players of the senior national football team, is standing trial for stealing and causing financial loss to the state. The case has been adjourned until next Monday.
