Speaking at the event, Mr. Kwame Baah Nuakoh a lecturer at the University of Ghana and the President of ASBOG said ?Mr. Daara?s contribution to the growth of the young sports broadcasting industry in Ghana is immense.?

Ibrahim Sannie Daara rose to international fame in December 2001 after his presentation to FIFA resulted in a FIFA Fair Play Award to the Ghanaian goalkeeper Sumailah Abdallah which is Africa?s second after George Weah?s Player of Year Award in 1995.

?We all know what his presentation to FIFA on Sumaila Abdallah?s Fair Play act has done to the reputation of sports broadcasting in Ghana? said Baah Nuakoh.

He credited Sannie Daara for the training and development of many young sports broadcasters. Baah Nuakoh said ?we recognize that even though there is no school for the training of broadcasters in Ghana let alone sportscasters, he has helped in training many of our colleagues who worked at Choice FM and are currently working with other radio stations in the country.?

Nicknamed ?The Man with the Feeler?, the sports editor of Choice FM is noted for his exclusive sports news and interviews since he started as a sports reporter in 1997.

Amid wild applause, Sannie Daara was presented with the award by Mr. Francois Dessong the President of Togo?s Sports Broadcasters Association who was the special guest for the event.
