Stanbic Bank supports SWAG Awards

Accra, Sept. 7, GNA - Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited has presented a cheque for 30,000 Ghana cedis to the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) towards its support for the successful hosting of the 35th Awards Night.

The event is slated for September 11, at the Banquet Hall, State House, Accra.

Mawuko Afadzinu, Head of Marketing and Public Affairs of the Bank who made the presentation on Thursday, said the donation forms part of the company's effort towards the promotion of sports in the country. He said the gesture is also in fulfillment of the long standing relationship between the Bank and SWAG and expressed the hope that the two bodies will continue to partner each other to develop sports in the country.

Ackah Anthony, SWAG President called on other corporate bodies to come to the aid of the Association to organize a successful event, since part of their contribution would go towards supporting the development and promotion of sports across the country.

He said the SWAG Awards has over the years' recognized the efforts of sportsmen and women in Ghana and it is about time for other organizations to support the Association to sustain the event. SWAG will confer honours on 23 distinguished sportsmen and women for lifting high the flag of Ghana during the year, 2009. The event will be graced by Okyehene, Osagyefo Amoatia Ofori Panyin II, Minister of Youth and Sports, Akua Sean Dansua and other sports personalities in the Africa sub-region among others.
