Spurs chase Awako

Tottenham Hotspur are chasing Ghanian ace Gladson Awako, but will face some stiff competition from Jose Mourinho's Inter, who are also keen on the starlet.

The versatile stopper has attracted interest from a number of European big guns since impressing for Ghana in the recent under-20 World Championships. It's thought that Spurs are heading the queue to bring in the 18-year-old who is currently plying his trade for Heart Of Lions.

Adept in either a midfield role, or as an attacking full-back, the player has already impressed Spurs having undergone a short trial in North London.

But with Jose Mourinho at Inter also showing interest, a deal to bring the player to White Hart Lane is far from certain to take place. Nevertheless, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is keen to move for the young talent, and will hope to lure him to The Lane in January.

With Redknapp remaining unconvinced as to the abilities of Welsh international Gareth Bale, he views Awako as a possible replacement for the unsettled former Southampton man.
