Sports philanthropist Kwashie laid to rest

Burial took place on Saturday March 1, 2014 at Krobo Odumase of the late Nene Azago Kwesitsi I, the Maheealor (Defender) of the Manya Krobo State known in private life as E.T. Kwashie.

The late patron of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) who owned Tesco (WA) Agencies was a former director of the Wonder Club, Accra Great Olympics and Tesco Babies Colts Club.

He was born in 1928 and he died in 2013 at the age of 84.

He was a popular sports philanthropist who really loved football and footballers was known to have been the the first private person to buy a bus for the Wonder Club in the 1970s.

The late E. T. Kwashie contributed to the Black Stars and other sporting disciplines especially handball, which he loved to watch just like football.

Among the SWAG delegation who were at the funeral grounds were patrons Oheneba Charles, Ambassador Ray Quarcoo, president Ackah Anthony, general secretary William Ezah and deputy general secretary Sammy Heywood Okine.

Others were executive member Frank Ampedu, Pierre Toto, Raymond Akumey, William Fifi Sey, Gabby Mensah, Kyei Manu, Henry Parker Nartey and Nii Maale Adsei.

The SWAG donated bottles of schnapps and cash of 2,000 ghc to the children and family.
