Kenten (B/A) Aug 10, GNA - A two-year sports development programme has been drawn up under which a 250 million cedi sports complex is to be constructed at Kenten-Konimase electoral area in the Techiman Municipality of the Brong Ahafo Region for the use of sporting talents in the area.

The construction of the new sports complex, to be named after Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw, Omanhene of Techiman Traditional Area is to be funded through fund raising activities and support from philanthropists as well as proceeds from stool lands of Kenten. Nana Yaw Frimpong II, Dabehene and Kentenhene in the Traditional Area briefed the GNA Sports after inspecting the site for the facility. He promised to personally provide funds for the fencing of the stadium.

The chief urged traditional authorities to attach importance to the promotion of sporting activities in their jurisdiction to foster unity among the people and accelerate development of their areas. Nana Frimpong said "Gone were the days when sports, especially football, was not regarded as an income generating venture", and therefore advised parents to encourage their children with the required talents to develop interest in both their education and sports. The Kentenhene appealed to both residents and non-resident citizens of the area to lend their support for the early completion of the project.
