Sports Ministry is yet to pay us – Para Athlete

Three-time African Para–Cycling Champion, Alem Mumuni, has exclusively revealed to sportscrusader.com,about his unpaid per-diem and training allowances which is yet to be redeemed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports after competing in this years’ Paralympics.

Three athletes, which include Alem Mumuni (Cycling), Charles Teye Narh (Power-Lifter) and Yussif Amadu (High Jump) represented the country at this year’s Paralympics in Brazil but were unable to win honors for the country in their respective categories.

He said: “We have not yet received our per-diem and training allowances two months after the Paralympics. We have not yet received any communication from the Sports Ministry, which is very disturbing.
“Last time, we heard the budget had been approved but it had not been redeemed to us yet, which is not right,” he told sportscrusader.com.

Mumuni also lamented the huge cost incurred during qualification to the games, which he did to represent the country without the support of the Sports Ministry.
