The Sports Ministry insists there are no plans in place to slash the bonuses of the Black Stars ahead of the 2018 World Cup qualifier against Comoros.

Reports are rife, the Sports Ministry have issued a directive to halve the $10,000 bonus the Black Stars have been receiving for winning competitive matches.

This new directive, according to source, is accompanied by a ‘take it or leave it’ caveat with the Sports Ministry claiming it has no money to foot the usual amount paid to the Black Stars.

The directive however appears not to have sit well with the team with Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan saying his is upset with this move.

But the Sports Ministry in an attempt to make further clarifications say it hasn’t reached a decision to slash the bonuses of the Black Stars.

“This was not discussed at the last meeting and it is unfortunate that these things are in the public domain,” the Ministry’s Public Relations Officier Otto Plahar told Starr FM.

“If the Ministry plans to undertake such an exercise, it will first engage the stakeholders.

“As at now, nothing of the sort has tentatively been agreed on.”

Attempts were first made to slash the bonuses of the Black Stars in the lead up to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations but this move was deferred.

There however remains a growing feeling that the bonuses of the Black Stars ought to be slashed following their disappointing campaign at the 2014 World Cup.
