Contractors working on the regional Youth Resource Centres have assured Sports Minister Isaac Asiamah of meeting the deadlines for the completion of their respective projects

The contractors, in a meeting with Isaac Asiamah, disclosed that the projects are at various stages of completion and will be ready for use as promised earlier.

Isaac Asiamah reminded them of their promise to Ghanaians and urged them to execute the projects with perfection.

The Minister also indicated he will be embarking on an inspection tour next week to assess and have first-hand experience of the work done so far.

It will be recalled that the Sports Minister in May this year embarked on a sod cutting spree for the construction of youth resource centres across the 10 regions of the country.

The towns which benefited from the multi-purpose facilities are Yendi in the Northern Region Navrongo in the Upper East Region, Wa in the Upper West Region Region, Dormaa in the Brong Ahafo Region, Dunkwa-on-Offin in the Central Region, Ho in the Volta Region, Koforidua in the Eastern Region, Nyinahini in Ashanti and Axim in the Western Region.

The complexes according to the Minister "forms part of government's effort to address the sports infrastructure deficit in the country"

The facilities, when completed, will house an 8-lane athletics track, a FIFA standard pitch, career counseling center, basketball and handball courts as well as a multi-purpose sports hall, a restaurant, and an ICT center. The mini-stadium can seat up to 5,000 people.
