Sports Council allocates office to SWAG

Accra, May 19, GNA - The National Sports Council (NSC) has allocated an office space to the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) at the premises of the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra, for the day to day administration of the Association.

The allocation was made in response to a request made to the NSC by SWAG.

The Association made the initial request during the renovation works at the Stadium ahead of the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations Tournament and followed it up recently.

A formal handing over ceremony is expected to be performed after the office has been refurbished by the Association. Mr Ackah Anthony, President of SWAG, said the offer had been made at an opportune time as it was bound to facilitate the day to day administration of the Association, adding that its central location would reduce the stress in conducting daily administrative functions. He on behalf of the Association expressed appreciation to the Council for their support and said the office would also foster closer working relationship with the sporting media.

Mr Wolanyo K. Agrah, Acting Chief Executive of the NSC, said one of his policies was to establish an effective working relationship with the sporting media. He said the allocation of the office would, therefore, ensure a smooth flow of information between the Council and the media. 19 May 09
