Sports College Bill in 2016 - Finance Minister

The Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) would in 2016 finalize the National Sports College Bill and develop the National Sports Policy, as the draft National Sports and College Bills had been completed and submitted to Cabinet and the Attorney-General?s Department respectively for approval and necessary amendments.

This was made known by the Minister of Finance when he presented the 2016 Budget Statement of the Government to Parliament on Friday.

He said the MOYS will facilitate the preparation and participation of the various national teams in major international tournaments in 2016.

Mr. Terkper said construction work at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium is about 80 percent complete and is expected to be fully completed by the end of the year.

The MOYS will also commence the rehabilitation of the Accra Sports Stadium, renovation of Ministry’s Office Complex, the National Sports College and preparatory works for the construction of the Ho Sports Stadium in 2016.

The Minister reiterated the Ministry’s mandate of creating an enabling environment for effective youth and sports development and promotion through policy formulation, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation.
