Spanish prosecutors have requested a prison sentence of ten and a half years for Rafa Mir as legal proceedings intensify over an alleged aggravated sexual assault case dating back to September 2024.
The striker, who is currently on loan at Elche from Sevilla FC, is facing serious charges following accusations that emerged in September 2024.
According to reports from the Spanish outlet Las Provincias, the prosecution has now formally outlined the penalties it is seeking if Mir is found guilty.
Prosecutors are demanding a 10.5-year prison term, alongside several additional sanctions.
These include a 13-year restraining order that would prohibit the player from contacting the alleged victim, as well as a €64,000 fine.
In addition, the prosecution has requested that Mir receive an eight-year ban from participating in any activities involving minors, a restriction that could further affect his professional and personal life should the court rule against him.
The case represents a major legal challenge for the Spanish forward and has cast uncertainty over his football career.
Mir, who has previously represented Spain at youth level and built his reputation in La Liga, now finds himself under intense scrutiny while the judicial process unfolds.
The situation has also drawn heightened public attention after Mir was recently involved in controversy over alleged racist remarks, further intensifying the spotlight on the player.
The court is expected to review the evidence and determine the next steps as the case moves forward in the Spanish legal system.
