Former Wa All Stars coach Alhaji Abubakari Sokpari says he joined Somali side Elman FC in order to prove a point.

The 41-year-old coach, who was regarded as a rising star in Ghana, had a terrible start to his first major job at the highest level as he lasted only two months after replacing Enos Adipah at Wa All Stars.

Sokpari saw his stay cut short following series of uninspiring results as he picked only one point from three games.

“I moved to Somalia to experience a change of environment and to take a challenge onto myself," Sokpari told 442gh.com.

"I believe that I will also gain a lot of experience as a coach here to help my career in the future. It is not going to be easy for me but I'm ready for the challenge ahead,” he added.

Sokpari signed a one-year deal with the Mogadishu-based club with an option to extend it after the season.
