Soca Warriors want clash with Ghana

TRINIDAD AND TOBAGO'S Soca Warriors could play host to African glory team Ghana this September, but the proposed idea could be scuppered because of scheduling problems.

Jack Warner, special advisor to the T&T Football Federation, said he was currently in discussions with Ghana's Minister of Sports, Papa Owusu Ankomah over the possibility of a match on September 2 in Trinidad.

However, fellow CONCACAF team Mexico has already accepted an invitation from the TTFF to play a friendly match on the same day in Port-of-Spain. The game was expected to be a celebration for the two teams who turned out at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Germany.

Ghana have been the surprise team of the World Cup, reaching the second round of the competition, before losing to Brazil (0-3) yesterday.

T&T, in their first outing at the prestigious tournament, failed to get out of the preliminary round after finishing at the bottom of Group B with one point. They, however, managed to create somewhat of an impression, holding European strong men Sweden to a 0-0 draw in the opening game.

Mexico, who dominated the CONCACAF qualifying tournament, reached the second round before being tumbled out by Argentina.
