The Ghana FA has revoked the stadium license of top-flight side Liberty Professionals and ordered them to look for an alternative venue after three dangerous snakes were killed during a match on Sunday.
The Accra-based club, that top players like Michael Essien, Sulley Muntari and Asamoah Gyan played for, have been asked to relocate from their Dansoman home ground after the scary incident during the match against Hearts of Oak.
The venue has now been officially declared unsafe to host Ghana Premier League matches after the exclusive Ghanasoccernet.com report about the presence of the poisonous reptiles.
This was after fans killed three snakes at the Carl Reindorf Park on Sunday during their league match against Hearts of Oak.
The stadium license of the club has been withdrawn with immediate effect after inspector granted a provisional clearance with a caveat of clearing the bush around the stadium.
After an initial inspection on 27 December, 2019, the board observed that the surrounding of the stadium needed to be weeded and thorough cleaning done before 10 January, 2020 but the club defaulted.
The order to clear the bush has not been met which has resulted in the Ghana FA's Club Licensing Board action.
A statement by the Club Licensing Board read: ''The board has taken note of your inability to effect the required changes before the said deadline, and this was further confirmed by the Board after its inspection on Monday, January 20,2020.
''In view of the foregoing, the Club Licensing Board at its meeting on Monday, January 20, 2020 has decided to revoke your license for the use of the Carl Reindorf Park with immediate effect.
''The club is also advised to officially reapply for a license to use the Carl Reindorf Park should the above stated defects be corrected.''
The presence of such reptiles means the pitch is not suitable and a major health risk.
Liberty have been using the stadium for some years now, and according to Ghanaguardian.com report, it was not the first time fans have been put in scary moment by snakes during a league match.
The park is partly surrounded by some bushes, which make it obvious that more dangerous reptiles are housed in.
The Carl Reindorf Park had a huge crowd on Sunday, dominated by Hearts of Oak fans.
The Phobians came from an early goal down to secure a 2-1 win.
