Silver-winning Satellites return home

A rousing reception was accorded the silver-winning Black Satellites who returned home on Wednesday night from the African Youth Championship.

Members of the Ghana Football Association led by its President Kwesi Nyantakyi together with the Minister for Sports, Hon. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah were at the Kotoka International Airport to welcome the Ghana U-20 team.

Supporters clad in the national colours were in full voice as the Black Satellites touched down from Algeria where they finished second to Egypt after losing 5-4 on penalties in the final last Saturday.

The Black Satellites now have to prepare for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Turkey.

Ghana will begin its campaign at the World Cup with an opening match against France.

The Black Satellites will play Les Bleuets at the Ali Sami Yen Arena in Istanbul on 21 June before fixtures against Spain and USA, all in Group A.

Sellas Tetteh's side after their opening match will be in action three days later against Spain's La Rojita.

Ghana's U20s will wrap up their group campaign in Kayseri against the USA on June 27.
