Signing for Kotoko has lifted my status - Adusei

New Asante Kotoko signing Kwabena Adusei says signing for the Premier League champions has elevated his status. He told his new club’s official mouthpiece, the Kotoko Express, that even though he is a resident of Kumasi, people now see him in a new light.

“It is amazing how within a twinkle of an eye, people are beginning to see me in different light and giving me a high prominence. I am a resident of Kumasi and so am known by many in the city, but since news of my coming to Kotoko broke, even people I live with in my area are now giving me some high stature that makes me sit back and wonder why it took me too long to come to Kotoko.”

The centre back also told the Kotoko Express that he is unable to do things he normally does, adding that he aims to make a contribution towards retaining the Premier League title.

“I have gained instant prominence that is making me unable to do some things that I could freely do just last week. Kotoko has indeed taken me higher. I therefore want to assure the fans that I am here to making meaningful contribution to defend the league trophy and also make a bold and giant onslaught onto the continental scene.”

The former Medeama SC defender revealed that he has been welcomed by his new team-mates; most of whom he already knows.

“I have been wholeheartedly accepted and welcomed by my colleagues and we have been enjoying our union. One thing that is working for me is the fact that I have a long standing relationship with most of the players in Kotoko. I have joined Kotoko at a time when we are the reigning league champions and so I have a lot of challenges to meet. We therefore have to work harder than before to be able to meet the challenges ahead.”

Adusei also called on Asante Kotoko’s supporters to support the team, since the champions would be the target of every team in the Premier League, adding that together, Asante Kotoko would be a bigger club.

“They will have to support us with their prayers since we are definitely going to be the target of almost every club in the premier league. I thank them for their nice welcome and together, we can make Kotoko bigger than we see it now.”
