Ex-Ghana defender Shilla Illiasu is still eyeing a return to the domestic top-flight after years of inactivity.
The veteran centre-back has not played actively for more than three years due to injury.
The ex-Kotoko defender had been linked with a return to boyhood club Real Tamale United but that was derailed due to persistent injuries.
But the 33-year-old insists he will play in the local league before he finally hangs up his boots.
“A lot of people are anxious and eager to see Shilla Illiasu back in action. With all fairness, I haven’t signed for any club yet,” Shilla told footballmadeinghana.
“RTU were the club which showed interest in me but unfortunately for them; they are out of the competition for the Premiership top-flight next season.”
“I made my intention clear to them that; I want to play in the Ghana Premier League this year. Although I am still a free agent I am into negotiation with clubs.
"Hopefully, Shilla Illiasu will be in action when the new season kick starts on 20th of this month as we have been made to understand.”
Illiasu has an extensive resume in Ghana having played or local giants Kotoko as well as King Faisal and Real Tamale United.
