TUC needs representation on Council

Accra, Nov. 4, GNA - The Trades Union Congress (TUC) has expressed concern about the exclusion of the representation of the Local Government Workers Union of TUC on the just-inaugurated Local Government Service Council.

The council was inaugurated on October 30, 2004.

A protest letter dated November one, 2004, and signed by Mr K. Danso-Acheampong, Legal and Industrial Relations Officer of TUC, said the attention of the Congress had been drawn to the inauguration of the Council without any representation from the Union contrary to section 5 (1) of the Local Government Service Act 2003 Act 656.

The letter said "in the result of what can best be described as an obvious omission, the Congress by this letter is calling on the Minister to invite the designated Union in accordance with Act 656 forthwith".
