New Hearts of Oak recruit
Seth Owusu has yet to feature in a competitive game for the former Ghana
champions but he tells 90 MINUTES he is already enjoying every bit of time with
the club.
Former Chivas USA defender
Owusu joined the Phobians from Medeama in the off-season and is currently in
camp with the club at Essipong preparing for the Premier League’s 2012/13 kick off.
But already he’s saying some
good things about the Hearts training regimen and especially the tactics of
helmsman C.K. Akunnor.
“I’m happy in the team. I am
very happy to be with Hearts of Oak and how the coach is going about his work,”
Owusu went hilarious.
“We are fit, we are strong
and I know we are going to be ready for the league. Camping has been good and
the coach’s training methods are also effective so I’m hopeful things will go
well for us this season,” Owusu told 90 MINUTES via phone Wednesday night
before scoring in the side’s last friendly match at Essipong on Friday morning.
He also shrugs aside
suggestions that they have not had enough pre-season which has been compounded
by the cancellation of the GHALCA Top 4 tournament.
“As I’m speaking to you,
we’ll play a match against Dwarfs on Sunday. That’s all pre-season and we have
been playing a lot of matches since we came here, about five matches. We hope
that will be enough for us so even without the Top 4, we’ll still be okay for
the league,” he assured confidently.Credit: Prince Dornu-Leiku / 90 MINUTES newspaper
