Sekondi-Takoradi goes gay

Sekondi, Jan. 21, GNA - The twin-city of Sekondi-Takoradi erupted into a huge carnival as thousands of supporters poured onto the streets to celebrate the Black Star's victory over their Guinean counterparts in Sunday's opening game of the 26th edition of the African Cup of Nations soccer fiesta.

Few minutes after the match which the Stars won 2-1, thousands of people of all ages trouped to the streets singing and dancing in appreciation of the national team effort of overcoming the Guineans. Adorned in "T" shirts and in the national colours, many of the people said with the victory, half of the battle to annex the trophy at stake had already been won.

Many drinking spots were filled to capacity with taxis and private cars displaying the national flag as they joyously tooted their horns loudly whilst shouting praises for the Stars as the celebration continued deep into the night.

The first Group "B" match of the competition would be played between the Elephants of Cote d'Ivoire and the Super Eagles of Nigeria at the Essipon stadium near Sekondi on Monday. The other competing countries in the Group, Mali and Benin would sort things out in the second match at the same venue soon after the first match.
