Sekondi Eleven Wise Football Club to celebrate centenary

A nine-member planning committee under the chairmanship of Ambassador Joseph Paa Kojo Ackon, has been constituted to, oversee the centenary celebrations (1919-2019) of Sekondi Eleven Wise Football Club.

Announcing the membership over the weekend, Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhene of Essikado(British Sekondi) Traditional Area, and life Chief Patron of the club, intimated that one of the highlights of the celebrations is the rebranding social event involving the Sekondi-Takoradi twin city on Tuesday 9th April, to commemorate the exact date on which Sekondi Eleven Wise was formed.

A statement issued to the Ghana News Agency by Mr Victor Markin,, Secretary, said, "The planning committee is also charged with a three- year mandate to get Sekondi Eleven Wise FC back into the national premier league, mobilise

a new nation-wide supporter base for the club, develop a new club base for the club, develop a new club structure from the colts level through schools and colleges, outsource a merchandising regime as well as secure partnership deals with selected international clubs. "

They are also to engage stakeholders including the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Normalization Committee for Ghana Football, all former chairmen of the club, relevant metropolitan assemblies, Members of Parliament in the twin city, Sports Writers Association of Ghana(SWAG), both national.and regional executives, the respective traditional authorities and supporters abroad.

According to the statement, members of the planning committee include Mr Ken Tweneboah Aikins, Mr Ato Van-Ess, Mr William C Daniels, Nana Kwamina Awotwe I(Nana Ngyiresia) Nana Efua Ahima, Alhaji Sani Buda Ali and Mr Victor Markin, Member and Secretary.

"The dates and related activities, as well as the inauguration of the Planning Committee, will be announced soon," the statement said.
