Ex-Ghana international Sebastian Barnes has been named coach of the Under-16 side of German side Bayer Leverkusen.
Barnes was awarded a UEFA License B coaching certificate after completing a course in Germany in February this year.
The 35 year old featured for the Bundesliga side between 1995 and 1996 season after spending four seasons with Ghanaian giants Hearts of Oak.
Barnes told Sunyani-based Storm FM: “You know I played there before so after obtaining my UEFA License B certificate, I moved there to enquire about the possibility of having a spell there as a coach and they quickly negotiated with me based on the fact that I also started with the U-17 team.”
“For now, I have signed all the details and would be starting work on the 1st of June with the U-16 side together with some of my assistants who also played there.
“The Europeans have now realized that it is imperative to appoint young people,”
