Schlupp signs new deal Schlupp signs new deal

Defender Jeffrey Schlupp has signed an improved contract with Leicester City.

The 22-year-old Ghana international, on the back of a successful season where he won two club awards - Players’ Player and Young Player of the Year titles - will now be with the Foxes until 2019.

Schlupp, who started in 30 games on Leicester’s return to the Premier League, had signed an extension only last summer but with reported interests from Arsenal and Aston Villa, the club has moved to hand him two more years with improved terms.

He believes the King Power Stadium is the right place for him to continue his development as a player.

“I’m absolutely delighted to sign for a club that is seriously going places,” Schlupp told lcfc.com.

“We’ve seen how far the club has progressed in the last few years and it looks like it’s just the beginning.

“I’ve been here a long time, I know a lot about the city and the club and I’ve always felt settled in Leicester. It’s a great place to work every day, I know a lot of people here and I think that’s helped me to progress. It’s a really good environment for a young player to learn and improve your game.

“Having just played my first real full season, I want to make sure I come back in the right condition so that I can kick on, get more football and keep developing.

“I want to play as much as I can in the next four years, so it’s all about settling down and getting games under my belt.”

Schlupp has been with Leicester since age 11.
