Schalke 04 top Central Region Middle League

Cape Coast, May 10, GNA - Abura Odonase Schalke 04 topped the Central Region middle league table with six points when they whipped Ofaakor Odupon Heroes 4-0 in their match played at the Cape Coast sports stadium on Friday.

Schalke 04 started the game on a fast note and got the opener through right half back Peter Boye in the first minute.

They continued to dictate the pace of the game but it was not until the 43rd minute when midfielder Isaac Dubartey exploited a defensive blunder to increase the tally to 2-0 in the 43rd minute.

On resumption of the second half, Odupon Heroes made some changes but these did not deter Schalke 04 from scoring two rapid goals through centre half Emmanuel Larbi and outside right Mohammed Iddrisu to bring the full time score to 4-0.

In another encounter, the match between Bless FC and Agona Swedru All Blacks on Friday ended abruptly in the 89th minute. The score at the time of the incident was one-one.

The incident occurred in the 89th minute when All Blacks midfielder, John Mensah scored a goal but a defender of Bless quickly scooped the ball off the goal line.

Class one referee, Paul Afolendek whistled for a goal but players of Bless protested against the goal on the grounds that the ball did not enter the net.

When the referee stuck to his decision, the players of Bless refused for the kick to be taken and thus refused to continue play and the referee had to whistle for the end of the match.
