Satellites hit seven in double friendly

The Black Satellites hit seven goals in a double friendly ahead of their departure for a Five Nations pre-world Cup Tournament in New Zealand.

The Ghana under-20s managed to beat Division One side Istanbul FC 1-0 before going on rampage in the second game, hitting six goals past Miracle FC at the Accra Stadium.

Emmanuel Boateng scored the only goal against Istanbul in the first game while defenders Patrick Asmah and Joseph Owusu Bempah joined brace hitters Benjamin Tetteh and Samuel Tetteh on the scoresheet in the second match.

Speaking after their last bout of preparations in Accra, head coach Sellas Tetteh said: “It is always a pleasure guiding these young ones. We have not reached our peak yet. It is just the kickoff time.

“We have almost a month to the start of the World Cup and I believe in terms of progression in our preparations, we shall see further improvement from what we saw today. I think all is well.”

The Black Satellites are expected to leave for New Zealand on Wednesday where they will participate in a five-team invitational tournament which starts this weekend.

Ghana are scheduled to face Qatar at 3am CAT (1am GMT) on Monday, May 4.
