Ghana midfielder Salis Abdul Samed believes Sunderland will be a good place for him to continue his development.

He joined the Championship side on loan from French Ligue 1 and side RC Lens.

This was after his minutes at the club were cut short and he was frozen out of the club this season without making any appearance.

Speaking after his unveiling, Salis said, “I’m very happy to be here – I spoke with the Head Coach about the project and how the supporters love the Club, so it seemed like a good place for me to progress."

Abdul Samed's season was hampered by injuries last year, making 39 appearances across all competitions, including the UEFA Champions League and Europa League.

He attracted interest from multiple French clubs, including FC Nantes, Stade Brestois, and AS Saint-Étienne. Ultimately, Samed opted for the challenge of English football, believing it to be the best step for his career.

The Ghanaian international has been left out of the national team’s squad for the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Angola and Niger.
